Security

A lot of people are very concerned about the security of an internet connection. If you are one of them we are happy to deal with you by phone fax and letter in the traditional way.

Our view is that most of these fears are overstated. It is possible to eavesdrop into an internet connection, just the same as with a phone call. But how many people are afraid to use the phone in case it is tapped? And how many people would know how to tap a call anyway? (The internet is even harder to tap). If, for example, you are willing to speak about your private affairs to a solicitor on the telephone, or to order something on a credit card over the phone, the internet should not worry you.

Do not get the idea that we are complacent about security. We are committed to using every means possible to keep absolute confidentiality for everything communicated to us, via the net or otherwise. But the first rule of security is - don't talk about it. So we don't give details.

As solicitors we have always taken confidentiality very seriously indeed, since long before the internet was even thought of. That same confidentiality continues to apply however you deal with us. A solicitor who breaches his client's confidentiality is liable to be struck off by the Law Society. You are safe with us!
