AdviceNet in England & Wales is an organisation for lawyers who want to change the system.
Most lawyers, even today, regard their clients as being thick. The legal system is, in their eyes, far too complicated for the average man to comprehend; so why bother trying to explain things? The client can be grateful for what he is given and that we, the lawyers, are prepared to concern ourselves with his lowly affairs. Even if by some miracle the client was able to understand what we do, we would still not explain it to him, because he would then go off and do it himself and avoid paying us any fees, and very soon we would all be out of a job. And we cannot have that, can we?
What twaddle. We at AdviceNet believe that the law belongs to YOU, not us, and we want to give it back to you. So we have devised this internet site in an effort to take some of the mystery away and explain what goes on in the lawyer's office and how the law works. That way, you can follow what your solicitor is getting up to and understand the process better. It is yours, after all.
Eventually we aim to provide lawyers nationwide who will offer their services to the public making full use of the internet. Lawyers are a cautious breed when it comes to new technology, so this sort of thing does not come easy to them. But keep watching this space and see it grow!
We are fully qualified as Solicitors of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, and fully accredited and authorised by the Law Society of England and Wales.
